Firewood shortage in eastern States

GET IN EARLY OR MISS OUT!

Firewood users are advised that there is likely to be a significant shortage of firewood this winter in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.  Due to the floods and high levels of rainfall that have occurred in the Eastern mainland states over the previous seven months, many firewood producers have not been able to get access to their wood sources.  This has resulted in many of the major producers and wholesalers carrying substantially lower stock levels into this winter than they would normally do.  It is very likely therefore that there will be a significant shortage of dry firewood later in the winter.  It is recommended that firewood retailers and consumers purchase sufficient wood to last the winter as soon as they can to avoid missing out.  Buying in mid-winter is likely to mean paying higher prices, or having to accept higher moisture content wood.
